SAP TechEd Announced Features for 2024

As we start the New Year, we are prompted to review SAP announcements back in Bangalore November 2023. SAP TechEd brings together SAP experts, developers and partners to explore upcoming innovations and business insights. For SAP TechEd 2023, the SAP community engaged in conversations around three key areas of innovation namely; Generative AI, SAP Build Code and SAP Hana Cloud Vector Engen.

Generative AI
The hot topic across all industries in 2023. SAP Announced the release of generative AI hub in SAP AI Core. This will provide developers with access to large language models. These models include OpenAI, Falcon-40b , Aleph Alpha and Meta's Llama2. 

SAP Build Code
While SAP Build has been around, it receives an upgrade with AI-powered development tools optimised for Java. This adds a pro-code element to its low-code/no-code design. SAP Build Code aims to simplify the developer experience and create a unified starting point. SAP has created these processes and modules so that every SAP Developer can become an AI Developer and deliver Business AI.

SAP Hana Cloud Vector
As data comes in many formats, SAP Hana Cloud Vector aims to enable customers with capabilities to manage unstructured data such as images and audio as vector embeddings. SAP Hana cloud vector engine combines the power of large language models with company specific real-time data and business process know-how.

Business Application and AI use in SAP

Speaker Philipp Herzig, Senior Vice President and Head of Cross Product Engineering and Experience, gave insight on the latest updates and user experiences that have built the foundation for AI Technology. He talks about there success on One Domain Model and how integration is the bedrock for the new entities and capabilities. He also spoke on the introduction of SAP Start which is the central entry point across all SAP's applications, allowing you to navigate between applications and have your workflows from all of SAP applications in one place and which can be extended using SAP Workzone.

SAP Start gives you  all required information needed to perform your job. From  approval  requirements to  Service Now tasks and it has Joule. Joule is being positioned as SAP Developers AI Co-Pilot. Introduced by Juergen Mueller, Chief Technology Officer, Member of the Executive Board. Kalpana Karunamurthi adds that “We are feeding Joule with relevant APIs from SAP Business Accelerator Hub and then passing the information to the card services, which allows me to see the result. ” She also talks about S/4 Cloud for Projects resource management. This view uses master data integration to bring together project data from S S/4, the workforce data, the contingent workforce data from Fieldglass, and workforce person data from SuccessFactors.

As always SAP TechEd provides hands-on exposure and insight across the SAP product portfolios. We look forward to 2024.
